On this website, you will find publications on symphonic music production, academic texts on sound engineering, audio, and music production. Topics range from instructives on setting up recording sessions in different musical styles, capturing techniques, mixing, among others; to subjects like software development and research on sound science matters such as the use of impulse responses, binaural audio, acoustic measurements, as well as studies on sound perception, music, and psychoacoustics. These publications and studies have been developed by the audio specialist Cesar Arévalo in different cities around the world and with the collaboration of countless musical talents, researchers, and experts in the field of Sound.
Cesar Arévalo – Music Producer
Cesar Arévalo’s career began in 2015 with symphonic music production, starting with recordings of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra (O.F.B.) during his studies in sound engineering. His early work caught the orchestra’s attention, and upon graduating from the University of San Buenaventura, he joined the OFB’s audiovisual production team. There, he engineered over 60 concerts and participated in more than 200 events, solidifying his expertise in orchestral production. A standout milestone was his contribution to the Latin Grammy-winning album Regreso (2019) by composer Samuel Torres and the Nueva Filarmonía orchestra—a project produced by Danilo Álvarez, whose mentorship deeply influenced Cesar’s approach to symphonic production.
In 2018, after working on an educational initiative with Indigenous communities in the Colombian Amazon, Cesar pursued an MSc in Audio Production at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK. During this time, he produced local bands across rock, pop, and folk genres while developing research and educational projects featured on this site. By 2022, he expanded into live music production, engineering Broadway-style shows like Six the Musical, Burn the Floor, and Velvet aboard Norwegian Cruise Line ships (USA)—honing his skills in large-scale technical direction.
Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary growth, Cesar traveled to Suzhou, China, in 2023 to research guitar fretboard transformations (inspired by Johnathan De Souza) and their application in metalcore performance, while learning traditional instruments like the guqin and pipa to implement them in the expansion of his skills and musicianship. Simultaneously, he joined the Montreux Jazz Festival China team, contributing to festival production, archival mixing, and hosting weekly jam sessions at the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center. These experiences reflect his dynamic engagement across music’s creative, technical, and academic dimensions.
Looking ahead, Cesar aims to deepen his work in music and audio research—bridging theory and practice—while expanding his industry impact through production, performance, and collaborative innovation. His goal is to contribute to evolving sonic landscapes, both onstage and in scholarly discourse, as a lifelong student of sound.
